Make-Up Mondays: Full Face

Hey loves! So Monday, I’ve been getting some compliments on how flawless my make-up has been looking lately. Make-up is something that I’ve been experimenting with since my senior year in high school, and to me, it’s not really a necessity to wear all of the time, but every now and then, I would want to wear it when my beau and I go out or when I just want to feel pretty. So normally everyday, I would only do my eyebrows, put on mascara, and swipe some Carmex on my lips and go; only at least twice a month, I would do my entire face. I’m not really a tutorial type of person, but I don’t mind letting you know the products that I used to achieve this look. Only a select few happen to be affordable cosmetics, and I’ve either bought the expensive ones or obtain them every month when I get my Ipsy Glam Bags. I will leave the links of where do buy these items at the end of my post. So without further ado, here are the products that I used for this flawless look:

Here are the links to where I purchased some of my products:

www.ipsy.com
www.influenster.com
www.shopmissa.com
www.sephora.com

The rest of the cosmetic products that I used to achieve this beautiful but soft make-up beat on myself was purchased at Dollar General and Wal-Mart (L.A. Color and 2 of the Maybelline New York products), and the Maybelline New York’s Unstoppable Eyeliner was free, courtesy of Influenster, hence the link I left above. Now remember, I’m not a MUA or a professional at this. I’m going at my own pace right now. I’m still learning new ways to apply the products, doing trial and error methods, and even watch tutorials and read reviews when I’m not sure about a purchasing and/or using a cosmetic product. I really hope that I can be able to help someone achieve this same look without explaining how I use each product (which I suck at). I hope all of you will have a superb day!

What Have I Been Up To?- Entry #1

image

Hey loves! I will be doing these “What Have I Been Up To” posts when I miss the days to blog, so I’ll keep you all informed on why I haven’t been posting and how these past days have been for me. So bare with me, because these past couple of days have been very stressful, but I’m managing.

So I know I haven’t been blogging lately because my son has been sick with the stomach virus, and I have been doing my best to make sure he gets over it, keep him hydrated, and keep a close eye on him at all times. As a mother, it’s been tough and stressful, especially over the fact that Aashten can’t tell me when he don’t feel so good or needs to vomit. When he does vomit, he comes straight to me, unsure of what to do or how to handle the situation. Most of these days, I’m in his room keeping him company, making sure that he’s okay. He wouldn’t have much of an appetite to eat anything, and would have to get him to drink Gatorade so it can work its magic and help get rid of the virus, which is an interesting fact because his pediatrician told me that it has more electrolytes in it than Pedialyte, and is low in sodium). When the time comes for him to take his naps, I would bring him in our room with me and his dad and lay him in his bed. Even though Aashten’s got his own room, he’s not comfortable with being in his room by himself yet or sleeping in his bed. He still preferred to sleep his Pack & Play bed that he’s been using since birth (and I’m surprised that it still fits him). He’s feeling a lot better now, but you can never tell if the virus is completely gone. And last Monday was the last day he had the symptoms and I THOUGHT it was long gone, but I was SO wrong… it doubled back two days ago. Now, I want to say that it’s run  its course, but I can’t say for sure so I would have to keep an eye on Aashten to make sure it is gone for good.

Another thing that I’ve been dealing with is being my boyfriend’s confidant in his time of need and helping him overcome his anxiety problems. He has been stressing over a lot of things that are going on concerning his job, his new friends (whom I think are a bad influence on him), and overusing his social media platforms. As a couple, we are both also dealing with our journey with Aashten and his Autism and issues concerning his mom and her upcoming surgery this Friday. I’m surprised that last night, while getting ready for bed, he decided to let me know about his feelings and problems and needed my advice on how to tackle it all, and I didn’t like seeing him all stressed out and worried. So being the woman that I am, I’m going to do all that I can to help him out because that’s just how things work in our relationship: help each other when in need.

image

Lately, I have been taking breaks from social media to clear my mind and I’ve been looking for a way to make money from home, and I had the opportunity to try out one job called ItWorks (have you heard of that crazy wrap?), and I had hosted a Facebook event with the woman that was recruiting me to get the job and it was set for Saturday. SO I let everyone know about it, getting them to spread the word, and… only three people accepted my invite event and when the day came for it to start, no one showed up for it. When it came to my friends, it’s like this: when someone wants people to support someone’s job or kid on something, they WON’T attend it. BUT when there’s a club/party flyer or brochure put up for everyone to attend, EVERYONE is excited and WILL attend. I just don’t get folks in this society we live in!!! So I kindly declined the job and instead taken up a new job as a Country Scents Candles Consultant! I am pretty excited about my new online job venture and it fits me best because I love using candles and wax melts, which I use on a daily basis. So why not sell the things that I love to use most? I haven’t made any sales yet, but I’m being patient by trusting the process.

image

So all in all, Facebook is an app that I learned that I don’t be on very often and really don’t need, and you have these people on your friend’s list that you know (personally or not) that can’t support you in anything that YOU do but want you to support them in everything that THEY do. So for my sanity, I gladly deactivated my page and deleted both Facebook and Messenger from everything that I have that it was on. Sometimes, you have to drop some social media platforms and friends along the way to grow more maturely and reduce anxiety problems.

That’s everything that I’ve touched on between the last post and today. My stress levels, between 0-10, are a mere 6.5 as of now and all I can do is give it all to GOD and ask HIM to handle every stressful part of my life. Of course I’m still going to continue to be SuperMom for Aashten, be there for my hottie of a beau, and take as many breaks as I can from social media to meditate and clear my mind. I may not be on social media as much, but I will be blogging a lot from now on. I hope you all are having a great day!!! 🌹💖💋✌

Juggling Chores and Parenthood

image

Today, I tried to clean up the house, but my child and his dad had other plans in mind. There was so much that I needed to do today: clean and organize rooms, sweep floors, wash the dishes, and empty all of the garbage cans. But Aashten wanted me to continuously turn his TV while he dumps his entire toy box, full of toys, out on the floor; his dad wanted me to help him get ready for work and also wanted to join in on Aashten with his toys.

It was a struggle to keep it together while trying to please the two of them and get the task done, but sometimes when motherhood gets in the way, all you need to do is do what matters most: cater to your child’s/children’s needs and forget about some of the major tasks at hand. So I played with the toys with Aashten and his dad, went through my email, multitasked between doing puzzles with Aashten and being on social media (something I don’t supposed to do), and cooked lunch. And since his dad left and Aashten went down for his nap an hour and a half ago, I finally tackled all of the chores off of my list, planned dinner ahead of time, picked our clothes out for Aashten’s therapy sessions tomorrow, and scheduled my favorite shows for later on tonight. Can you just say, “Yay to you, SuperMama!!!” I’m excited that I got everything done today, and it only took me 45 minutes to an hour to get things done.

image

One thing that I can’t believe that I’m not tired yet, and I haven’t even had my usual cup of coffee today (but I might have one this afternoon). Normally, this is what parenthood looks like for me almost everyday, but on days my boyfriend is off, it’s a little more hectic than that, but we manage it all and get stuff done, despite our child making things more chaotic than usual. I don’t mind it all though; in my opinion, doing chores and running behind a mischievous but curious toddler is also aiding me in my weight loss because it’s exercise for me and it keeps me on my toes. So my question to you is: What do you do when you need to finish cleaning the house, but your family has other plans? How do you handle the chores in your house?

Product Review: BlkDiamond’s 100% Charcoal Teeth Whitener

image

Last week, I received my order of the BlkDiamond’s 100% Charcoal Teeth Whitener, and I was pleased in the packaging that it came in. What made me buy it was that I was intrigued by how this stuff makes your teeth white, while also cleaning the whole mouth and strengthens your gums in the process, getting rid of stains & toxins and absorbing bacteria. It is made from the shells of coconuts, which is an interesting fact because coconut oil can be used as a teeth whitener (oil pulling). I had originally found it on Facebook through an ad, and of course I had to read the reviews before considering to purchase it for myself, and it had some great reviews.

image

After taking the top off to look at the contents, I saw that it was black charcoal powder and it looks like it can last you for a least a good 2-3 months. So I do as the instructions say:

    1) Thoroughly wet your toothbrush and place it on a paper towel/tissue.

   2) Open contents of BlkDiamond teeth whitener and dip toothbrush in (only need a small amount of product).

   3) Start brushing for two minutes, spit out, rinse toothbrush and repeat to get the black residue off.

While completing the process, let me tell you… It WILL get very messy. It doesn’t really have a taste but it is very sooty, and can get everywhere if you’re not careful, so in my case, I got it all over the sink, my hands, and it was a LOT of black residue everywhere! But as far as my results went after my week’s trial of using it every night, I can say that I’m impressed. Not only did my teeth get brighter, but they FEEL AND LOOK cleaner than they did last week.  But a couple of things that I will advise people to do if they purchase this item is to: gargle your mouth with mouthwash to make sure all of the black residue is completely gone, use this item only at night, and make sure you have a towel around your chest area since brushing with this stuff is messy, and have your cleaning supplies ready if the bathroom sink gets covered with the residue. It’s not a product that you need to use all of the time, but I like using it and including it in my nightly routines before bedtime, but I will start using it only 3-4 times a week.

So if you are interested in this product, go to www.blkdiamond.co and this product costs $19.99, with free shipping. It’s a little steep in price for teeth whitening, but it is worth the price.

My Weight Loss Journey: Getting Fit

image

This morning, I would say that I had a little hiccup when it came to my weight loss goals. I didn’t eat breakfast yet, and I was out getting my son more Gatorade since he’s been sick with the stomach virus, and I decided to drop by the doughnut shop to grab a cinnamon bun to eat. What supposed to be one doughnut turns out to be a half dozen of different varieties of doughnuts, which I wasn’t getting them for myself anyways, but for the family to eat. Not only was it intentional spending, but it was also unnecessary for me to eat. But in my case, I’m not on any diet, just watching the calorie and sodium intake of the foods that I put in my body, so in my case, I deserved it since I was doing so good lately. Just two weeks ago, that week’s weigh-in was wonderful: I had lost 5.6 lbs, which was a total of 16.3 lbs since March, so it was a huge accomplishment for me because I was still eating the leftovers of my birthday cake. At that time, I was pretty sure I gained, but it was quite the opposite and I was shocked, but excited all at the same time.

image

March 30th was when I knew that I needed to lose some weight. I was at the heaviest then, two ounces away from being 300lbs and I was struggling with my anxiety problems and was getting things straight in my relationship with my boyfriend after our brief break-up. y doctor was telling me that I need to cut back on my sodium intake and also had a problem with my blood pressure and I had to be put on a low-dosage blood pressure medicine. Also noting that I had anxiety problems, she referred me to a therapist to see, which gave me the greatest tip that has changed the way I eat forever: logging my food using an app called MyNetDiary. Not only does this app let me know how much calories I need to eat a day, but it also shows me how many calories that I burn doing different exercises and sports and the intake I need of sodium, carbs, fat, and proteins. It’s a nifty little app that has helped a lot because I wanted to minimize what I eat on a daily basis. One thing I haven’t done yet is done any exercises yet. I’m just too busy with my son, which gives me all the exercise that I need because his mischievousness keeps me constantly on my toes day in and day out. The closest thing that I’ve been doing that’s exercise is yoga because it helps with my anxiety and calms me, and I add meditation to that as well. Stress is a big factor to not achieving your weight loss goals and can potentially make you gain weight, so I have to do what I can to keep my stress levels down.

image

One thing people don’t know about me is that I am a very picky eater, and I don’t eat many fruits and veggies that I’m supposed to eat. So I make smoothies so I can get all of the nutrients that I’m not getting, and I try to make a smoothie once a day for breakfast or snack time with either just fruits or a mix of fruits and veggies. And things that I do eat, like hot dogs, sausage, & ham, I stopped eating because of the sodium intake. Only by spells, I will eat sausage and ham but it’ll only be a small portion of it. The only thing that is a problem is cutting back from eating sweets, but only the ones that I like eating (like that doughnut from earlier). Now, I made a strategy to eat only one or two a day, depending on their calorie and sodium intake (and yes, some stuff have salt in it like ice cream) and so far, I’ve been doing good since I made the strategy four days ago. Like today, I ate that cinnamon bun, but I’ll have to look at my food log and see how many calories I have left, and how many other components I have left to be able to eat dessert after dinner.

image

Nowadays, everyone is on this weight loss high and everyone is doing something different than the next, which happens to be just fads. There’s the pills (even the health supplement pills), detox drinks, using saran wrap, and they don’t work, believe me I HAVE TRIED IT ALL!!!! I did the saran wrap, Lipozene pills, Slim Fast, etc… THEY DON’T WORK AT ALL!!! The only thing that works for me is wearing my waist trainer (not the corset ones) for half a day, drinking my ACV shots in the morning (ACV, lemon juice, and honey mixed in an 8oz bottle of water), stay moving all day or try to exercise, and paying close attention to what goes in my body, plus I drink approximately 64-80oz of water all day everyday. It was shocking to a lot of people when I tell them that I don’t drink sodas at all (I stopped drinking sodas my 11th grade year in high school), just mostly water and POM juices. But water is a huge factor for me, not only does it helps to flush out all of the toxins in the body, but it gives you clear skin and healthy growing hair. So what I’ve been doing has been helping me lose weight, and yesterday I saw the results for myself, while in my pajamas, and I was ecstatic!!! As of Monday, I am at 287.6, which means I’m looking at a total of 10.4lbs. So yes, I gained 5.2 lbs, and at one time I was a little upset, but I know that I’ll be able to lose those pounds again, plus more so I’m determined to get back there.

image

My weight loss goal as of now is to reach 250lbs by October of this year, and I’m slowly making my way there, doing everything my way: making better choices in what I eat, staying active in my own way and adding in workouts & potentially getting a gym membership, and drinking lots and lots of water. When I do reach it, my new goal will be to lose 50 more pounds by February of 2018. I hope this will help someone in their journey of losing weight and achieving their goals. So my question to you is: What are your weight loss goals? What do you do to stay active? Have you used any weight loss fads?

My Nightly Bedtime Routines

image

Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of questions on my bedtime routines: what kind of products do you use to keep your skin nice and clear? What do you do to prepare yourself for bedtime? How do you keep your teeth looking squeaky clean and white?  So after much thought and consideration, I’ve decided to go ahead and let you know in on the products and rituals that I use. Some of the products, I may add, are very affordable and are easy to find if you want to purchase them for yourself, and I will tell you where to find them. These products are great in keeping my skin looking fresh, teeth looking white and feeling fresh and clean, and the things I do to prepare myself for a goodnight’s rest.

image

Every night around 9PM, before getting in the shower, I use Wal-Mart’s Great Value’s Organic Coconut Oil clean my face, and at the same time, it also removes my make-up. After that, I use Dollar Tree’s charcoal face mask on my face, and I set my phone timer for 15 or 20 minutes. I use those minutes to pick toys up in my son’s room and get him ready for bed, and when it’s time’s up, I wash it all off.

image

When I take a bath, I would usually opt for a sensitive body wash to clean my entire body, but lately I’ve been using Dudu-Osum Black Soap to wash with. I had purchased and found this product in my local beauty shop. I love the fact that not only does it gets the job done to clean, but it has an amazing smell. And when I’m not using the charcoal mask on my face, this soap is what I would use because it keeps your skin clear of acne or helps with skin problems. I also use this soap on my son because he has bad eczema on his face and body, and it helps to soothe and relieve it.

image

After a bath and drying off, I would use a combo of coconut oil and OKAY Jamaican Black Castor Oil (that I also bought at my local beauty shop) on my face to keep it clear, and my hair to help it stay healthy and strong, while aiding in growth. Then I would start brushing my teeth, but I don’t use regular toothpaste at night! Recently, I started using the BlkDiamond’s 100% Natural Charcoal Teeth Whitener toothpaste, and I found out about this product through an ad on Facebook. It’s not like regular toothpaste, but it’s black powder that’s made from… coconuts! (My review and more info on this product will be in my next blog article). I wet my toothbrush, dip it in the powder (a little goes a long way), and brush my teeth for at least 2 minutes. And by the way, you might want to cover yourself, because it can get a little messy! Then after I finish brushing, I use my Orabrush Tongue Cleaner (that I got complimentary from Influenster) and brush my tongue for a minute and a half. Then I’m all done!!

image

My rituals that I use nightly to get myself ready for bed is that I would make myself some Honey Lavender tea from the brand Yogi and curl up in the sofa and either read a good book, meditate, or just go over the day’s events. And when it’s time to get in bed, I would turn on one of Michael Sealey’s sleep meditations/sleep hypnosis audio recordings and let it lull me to sleep. Bedtime is such a wonderful time to just unwind for bed and get your body & mind ready for what the next day might bring. So my questions to you are: What are your bedtime routines when it comes to your skin? What are your rituals that you use to unwind before bed?
