This morning, I would say that I had a little hiccup when it came to my weight loss goals. I didn’t eat breakfast yet, and I was out getting my son more Gatorade since he’s been sick with the stomach virus, and I decided to drop by the doughnut shop to grab a cinnamon bun to eat. What supposed to be one doughnut turns out to be a half dozen of different varieties of doughnuts, which I wasn’t getting them for myself anyways, but for the family to eat. Not only was it intentional spending, but it was also unnecessary for me to eat. But in my case, I’m not on any diet, just watching the calorie and sodium intake of the foods that I put in my body, so in my case, I deserved it since I was doing so good lately. Just two weeks ago, that week’s weigh-in was wonderful: I had lost 5.6 lbs, which was a total of 16.3 lbs since March, so it was a huge accomplishment for me because I was still eating the leftovers of my birthday cake. At that time, I was pretty sure I gained, but it was quite the opposite and I was shocked, but excited all at the same time.
March 30th was when I knew that I needed to lose some weight. I was at the heaviest then, two ounces away from being 300lbs and I was struggling with my anxiety problems and was getting things straight in my relationship with my boyfriend after our brief break-up. y doctor was telling me that I need to cut back on my sodium intake and also had a problem with my blood pressure and I had to be put on a low-dosage blood pressure medicine. Also noting that I had anxiety problems, she referred me to a therapist to see, which gave me the greatest tip that has changed the way I eat forever: logging my food using an app called MyNetDiary. Not only does this app let me know how much calories I need to eat a day, but it also shows me how many calories that I burn doing different exercises and sports and the intake I need of sodium, carbs, fat, and proteins. It’s a nifty little app that has helped a lot because I wanted to minimize what I eat on a daily basis. One thing I haven’t done yet is done any exercises yet. I’m just too busy with my son, which gives me all the exercise that I need because his mischievousness keeps me constantly on my toes day in and day out. The closest thing that I’ve been doing that’s exercise is yoga because it helps with my anxiety and calms me, and I add meditation to that as well. Stress is a big factor to not achieving your weight loss goals and can potentially make you gain weight, so I have to do what I can to keep my stress levels down.
One thing people don’t know about me is that I am a very picky eater, and I don’t eat many fruits and veggies that I’m supposed to eat. So I make smoothies so I can get all of the nutrients that I’m not getting, and I try to make a smoothie once a day for breakfast or snack time with either just fruits or a mix of fruits and veggies. And things that I do eat, like hot dogs, sausage, & ham, I stopped eating because of the sodium intake. Only by spells, I will eat sausage and ham but it’ll only be a small portion of it. The only thing that is a problem is cutting back from eating sweets, but only the ones that I like eating (like that doughnut from earlier). Now, I made a strategy to eat only one or two a day, depending on their calorie and sodium intake (and yes, some stuff have salt in it like ice cream) and so far, I’ve been doing good since I made the strategy four days ago. Like today, I ate that cinnamon bun, but I’ll have to look at my food log and see how many calories I have left, and how many other components I have left to be able to eat dessert after dinner.
Nowadays, everyone is on this weight loss high and everyone is doing something different than the next, which happens to be just fads. There’s the pills (even the health supplement pills), detox drinks, using saran wrap, and they don’t work, believe me I HAVE TRIED IT ALL!!!! I did the saran wrap, Lipozene pills, Slim Fast, etc… THEY DON’T WORK AT ALL!!! The only thing that works for me is wearing my waist trainer (not the corset ones) for half a day, drinking my ACV shots in the morning (ACV, lemon juice, and honey mixed in an 8oz bottle of water), stay moving all day or try to exercise, and paying close attention to what goes in my body, plus I drink approximately 64-80oz of water all day everyday. It was shocking to a lot of people when I tell them that I don’t drink sodas at all (I stopped drinking sodas my 11th grade year in high school), just mostly water and POM juices. But water is a huge factor for me, not only does it helps to flush out all of the toxins in the body, but it gives you clear skin and healthy growing hair. So what I’ve been doing has been helping me lose weight, and yesterday I saw the results for myself, while in my pajamas, and I was ecstatic!!! As of Monday, I am at 287.6, which means I’m looking at a total of 10.4lbs. So yes, I gained 5.2 lbs, and at one time I was a little upset, but I know that I’ll be able to lose those pounds again, plus more so I’m determined to get back there.
My weight loss goal as of now is to reach 250lbs by October of this year, and I’m slowly making my way there, doing everything my way: making better choices in what I eat, staying active in my own way and adding in workouts & potentially getting a gym membership, and drinking lots and lots of water. When I do reach it, my new goal will be to lose 50 more pounds by February of 2018. I hope this will help someone in their journey of losing weight and achieving their goals. So my question to you is: What are your weight loss goals? What do you do to stay active? Have you used any weight loss fads?
